The City of Gillette’s Public Works Department organizes an annual Spring Cleanup for all residential properties within Gillette city limits and to private mobile home parks that are served by the City of Gillette Solid Waste Division. Exact dates will be advertised in the newspaper, radio stations, City Web Site, the City’s Facebook and Twitter pages or you can call the Streets Division at 686-5278.
This year the program will be a Community Drive and Drop, similar to what was done in 2013. It will be held over three different Saturdays at three different locations each Saturday from 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.. There will be three containers at each site: Metal, Demo and Trash. City crews will be on hand to assist citizens to dispose of items in the proper receptacles.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMMUNITY DRIVE AND DROP:
• The Do’s:
o Bring items to one of the Drive and Drop locations between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
o Place items in one of three containers:
* Container 1: Metal (dishwashers, stoves, barbecue grills, *lawn mowers, metal bed frames, bicycles, steel pipe, etc.)(*Note: Oil and gas must be drained from lawn mowers.)
*Container 2: Large materials: lumber, large wood items, dressers, bookshelves, wood bed frames, wood desks, clean wood fence posts, etc.
*Container 3: Bagged and bundled garbage (paper, plastics, clothing, couches, carpet, plastic swimming pools, etc.)
*Container 4: Yard Waste (Yard Waste should not be bagged.)
o City crews will be on hand to assist citizens to dispose of items in the proper receptacles.
• The Don’ts:
o Do not bring items to Drive and Drop sites before 8:30 a.m. or after 3:30 p.m.
o Do not bring items on the prohibited list below.
• The City WILL NOT accept:
o Refrigerators and freezers
o Air conditioners
o Water softeners
o Computers and other electronic devices
o Vehicle parts
o Paint or paint cans
o Motor oil
o Cooking oil
o Fuel containers
o Propane bottles
o 55 gal. drums
o Hazardous materials
o Debris from commercial businesses
o Railroad ties
The City will host a Stop & Drop on Saturday, April 30th at Campbell County Public Health parking lot at 2301 S. 4-J Road. This event will allow citizens to drop off and recycle consumer electronics, medication disposal, as well as clean food waste. Please plan ahead and recycle or dispose of these items responsibly, rather than throw them away at the Community Drive and Drop.
