Victim Services

The Victim Services Division is composed of the Director of Victim Services, Victim Services Specialist and the Crisis Response Team. This is a grant funded program that provides intervention and support to victims of crime. They offer crisis response services through the crisis response team and support services and advocacy to victims of crime through Gillette Municipal Court.

Services provided:

• Emotional support and community service referrals
• Crisis intervention services
• Assistance in filing victim compensation claims
• Information about the status of a criminal case
• Information on court procedures
• Notification of scheduling changes
• Accompanying victims and witnesses to court
• Facilitating the return of items taken for evidence
• Assistance with court ordered restitution

Want to help your community? Volunteer to do just that!

The Crisis Response Team is made up of volunteers from the community who provide intervention and support to victims of crime.

To apply for membership to the Crisis Response Team please fill out the Crisis Response Team Application(PDF, 701KB). The form must be printed out and hand delivered to the police department.
Becoming a volunteer requires a 40 hour Crisis Response Training Academy provided by the Gillette Police Department Victim Services Division.

Cell Phone Donation

We are having a cell phone donation collection! Watch for the barrels and donate your old cell phones at any of the following locations:

• Gillette Police Department
• Campbell County Sheriffs Department

VINE

The Wyoming Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification Service will tell you if an offender is in jail and/or prison and will give you other important custody information. This service will also let you leave a phone number where you want to be called automatically when that offender is released, transferred, or there is some other change in status. Wyoming Crime Victims Bill of Rights

• The right to be treated with compassion, respect, and sensitivity within the criminal justice system;
• The right to know the whereabouts of the offender and the current status of the case;
• The right to receive restitution from offenders;
• The right to know all rights under this law, including information about services and victims assistance at the local level;
• The right to know about victim compensation;
• The right to reasonable protection and safety and the right to know of legal recourse if threatened;
• The right to prompt return of property;
• The right to preservation of employment while participating in the criminal justice process;
• The right to be informed about the opportunity to make a victim impact statement at sentencing and parole hearings; and
• The right to be present at trial.
