Landscape Incentive Grant Program
Landscape Incentive Grant Program
Awards:
The City will match up to 50% of the total cost of a commercial landscape project with the maximum grant amount being $5,000.
Funds are paid out on prorated basis. 50% of the grant amount will be paid upon completion of the project. After one year, an additional 25% will be paid and after two years the final 25% will be paid.
Criteria:
The Parks & Beautification Board will select which projects to award grants to. Priority will be given to locations with high traffic & visibility.
Projects with a total cost of less than $2,000 are not eligible.
Applicants must submit their plans to City staff to ensure they meet zoning ordinances and landscape standards.
The property owner will be responsible for maintenance of the landscape area.
Funds are for new projects or rehabilitation projects.
The grant is non-transferable. Should the property be sold, the remaining payments will not be paid out.
Eligibility:
Any property owner of an existing commercial, industrial, or multi-family residence within the City limits of Gillette may apply for a Landscape Incentive Grant.
Tenants of eligible properties may apply, but must attach written permission of the property owner with a statement acknowledging that the property owner is ultimately responsible for maintenance of the landscaped area.
Application Process:
The application form, with plans or sketches, must be submitted to the Parks Superintendent or the Administrative Assistant at City West.
The Parks & Beautification Board will review the application to determine approval or denial of the grant.
If the grant is awarded, an Agreement will be prepared and executed prior to the start of the project.
Upon completion of the project, invoices and other proof of payment documentation will be submitted to the Parks Superintendent for approval.
Staff will inspect the project and upon acceptance, the first payment will be issued.
After one year, City staff will re-inspect the project. Landscaping must be properly maintained and plant material must be healthy. The Parks Superintendent will then issue the second payment of 25%.
After two years, City staff will conduct a final inspection. If all is acceptable, the final payment will be issued.
