Website Launched to Provide Gurley Overpass Information
Published on September 19, 2024
The City of Gillette has relaunched www.InformGillette.com with information about the Gurley Overpass and the steps being taken to maintain and eventually replace it. The website includes links to recent reports and presentations about the structure as well as a list of frequently asked questions.
With approximately 10,000 vehicle crossings each day, Gurley Overpass is a critical access point for the Gillette community. Recent studies have found that the more than 40-year-old structure is reaching the end of its anticipated useful life.
Earlier this year, the Campbell County Commission, the Town of Wright and the City of Gillette passed a joint resolution approving a ballot proposition for the 2024 General Election for a 1% specific purpose excise tax. The three items that will appear on the November 5, 2024 ballot are $12,000,000 to the Town of Wright for the Sagebluff Addition Project, $207,800,467 to the Campbell County Land Board for the Multi-Use Indoor Arenas Project at CAM-PLEX and $30,000,000 to the City for the replacement of the Gurley Overpass.
www.InformGillette.com is intended to educate the community about Gurley Overpass and plans for its future replacement. For more information, contact City of Gillette Public Affairs Director Jennifer Toscana at (307) 686-5202.
